LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The Permaculture Calgary Guild operates on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani); the Îethka Stoney Nakoda Nation (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Good Stoney bands), and the people of the Tsuut’ina Nation. The City of Calgary is also homeland to Northwest Métis and to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, Métis Nation Battle River Territory, Nose Hill Métis District 5 and Elbow Métis District 6.
We are grateful to live, play, grow, learn and work in this ancestral and traditional territory. We acknowledge the teachings and generosity that this land has given us and all people who make Treaty 7 their home.
As Permaculturists, we strive to build holistic relationships with the land and encourage a reciprocal balance of giving and taking. Just as those who were here for centuries before us.
We honour and acknowledge the contributions of Indigenous peoples worldwide in shaping the foundational principles and ethics that govern the Permaculture paradigm.
In efforts to decolonize our work, we will listen to, learn from, and support Indigenous communities.
